GOV. MATAWALLE FLAGS-OFF CONSTRUCTION OF SANKALAWA ROAD, PROMISING TO CHECK INSECURITY THROUGH PROVISION OF RURAL ROADS

His Excellency, Zamfara State Executive Governor Hon  Dr. Bello Mohammed MON (Matawalle Maradun) has promised to open more rural access roads in order to frustrate control of bushes and other hideouts by bandits and provide unhindered access to the security to fight all criminal elements throughout the state.

The governor stated this today when he flagged off the construction of Sankalawa rural road which is to be constructed by the state's Rural Access and Marketing Project, an agency established by the Matawallen Maradun administration aimed at boosting the economic wellbeing of rural dwellers which is also in fulfilment of the campaign promise made to the rural dwellers by the governor.

Governor Matawalle explained that the rural roads will especially allow smooth transportation of agricultural produce, enhance inter-community relations and boost rural commercial activities. The quest for a new Zamfara State will then be accomplished with a new lease of life for the rural communities through building the much-needed infrastructure.

He said the construction of the long-awaited Dan Marke – Kanoma road, with a spur to Ruwan Doruwa and the constructing of Gidan Goga – Maradun and Dosara Maradun roads have since commenced while the state government is also executing Mada – Ruwan Bore road and In Sha Allah the Tsafe – Yankuzo – Hayin Alhaji – Yan Ware road will be constructed.


He assured the readiness of his administration to continue to meet its obligations in the promt and timely payment of counterpart funds for all projects undertaken in conjunction with development partners or other relevant bodies such as the World Bank for schemes of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing to be fulfilled.


He revealed that his government has already met these obligations with the payment of counterpart fund to the tune of 200 million naira, the formation of state Project Management Committee and also allocated utility vehicles to the programme, among others and now looking forward to the formal enlistment into the programme with today’s flag-off of a pilot project for the construction of a road from Sankalawa junction to Sankalawa village.


He prayed that the project will be the beginning of more projects from this valuable agency, RAAMP.
